Framingham brewery Jack’s Abby is among a handful of craft brewers that have partnered with Berkshire Mountain Distillers to have its beer transformed into whiskey.
The Craft Brewers Whiskey Project is being undertaken by the Sheffield distiller using Jack’s Abby’s Smoke & Dagger black lager. The distiller has already completed a similar project using beer from Samuel Adams, Ommegang and Terrapin brewers. Berkshire Mountain will be drawing beer from 14 other brewers from as far away as Pennsylvania and Maine for this new project.
The resulting whiskeys will be aged at the distillery for an undetermined amount of time before it is released, according to the distiller. Berkshire Mountain Distillers spirits are available in 19 states.
Jack's Abby's influence recently resulted in Framingham being named one of the 99 best cities for beer connoisseurs.
