Former Unum HQ gets Fallon Health rebranding ahead of company’s move

It’s out with the old and in with the new, as the structure formerly known as the Unum Building has had signage for Worcester-based Fallon Health installed on its exterior, ahead of the health insurer’s move to the site later this year.

The addition of Fallon Health’s branding at the end of July, planned since December, comes after the company announced in November it would move its headquarters from One Chestnut Place across downtown to the One Mercantile building.

“The installation of Fallon Health branding at our new corporate headquarters is a significant milestone in our journey, symbolizing our growth and commitment to innovation and excellence on behalf of those we serve,” Christine Cassidy, chief communications officer at Fallon Health, said in a press release announcing the signage on Tuesday. “Members, employees, and provider and community partners alike can take great pride in seeing our name and logo prominently featured on the One Mercantile building.”

Fallon Health expects the move to be completed during the fourth quarter.

One Chestnut Place, in Worcester

Formerly known as the Unum Building, the building was renamed as One Mercantile after the Tennessee-based firm announced it would be pulling out of Worcester in 2020.

Fallon Health’s former headquarters at One Chestnut Place is now set to be converted into residential units, one of a handful of proposals in Central Massachusetts to convert former offices into much-need housing

The former Unum Building isn’t the only prominent downtown Worcester building to get a new prominent brand signage since 2023; In August 2023, the Telegram & Gazette branding was removed from Mercantile Center at 100 Front St. following the media company downsizing its presence at the building, another example of the shifting building branding landscape in the city
