A nearly 160,000-square-foot former Verizon engineering headquarters in Marlborough is hitting the market again after a major renovation.
The site, called InterLocke, is on the same street as the Massachusetts International Academy and OYO Sports, not far off I-495 and Route 20. It is being marketed as office or medical device lab space.
The building's name is a play on the address -- 251 Locke Drive -- and the way the structure's two buildings connect in the shape of an 8.
A $3-million renovation improved the facade and lobbies and tackled deferred maintenance, said Bill Bailey, a leasing agent for the site for Jones Lang LaSalle.
"The building has been re-positioned to be a in a ready-to-go state," Bailey said, calling the improvements a universal solution that should work for a broad range of tenants.
A grand opening ceremony was held Nov. 15.
Boston Andes Capital bought the 12.5-acre in July 2016 for about $3.6 million, a sharp discount from when Stag II Marlborough LLC bought it for $18.7 million in 2006.
The property was last assessed at $7.8 million. The building was built in 1984.
The three-story brick structure has two connected buildings with an opening in each. No space is more than 40 feet from a window, according to the site brochure.
The building hosted a Verizon data and customer support center until the utility company's lease expired. The building has been vacant since.
