BJ’s Wholesale, headquartered in Marlborough, has named Dave Burwick to the bulk retailer’s board of directors.
Burwick will be filling an empty spot on the board after Christopher Baldwin decided not to stand for re-election at the company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders in January. Baldwin’s decision not stand for re-election was not a result of any disagreement with the company, according to a January filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Burwick will serve as a member of the company’s nominating and corporate governance committees, according to a press release from BJ’s on Friday.
"We are pleased to welcome Dave to our board," Bob Eddy, chairman and CEO of BJ’s, said in the press release. "Dave brings over 30 years of strategic leadership experience in the beverage industry. He has a strong track record of building brands and leading growth companies. We look forward to leveraging his deep consumer knowledge and expertise as we continue to execute the company’s long-term strategy and maximize shareholder value."
Until March, Burwick was serving as president and CEO of alcohol beverage company Boston Beer Co., the maker of Samuel Adams beer. Prior to joining Boston Beer, he served as president and CEO of California-based Peet’s Coffee and Tea. Earlier in his career, he spent 20 years at PepsiCo in a range of senior executive roles.
He has been a member of the Boston Bruins Foundation Advisory Board since January 2019. He serves on the board of Deckers Outdoor Corp., a California-based publicly held footwear design and distribution company, and The Duckhorn Portfolio, a California-based luxury wine company.
BJ’s offers food, technology, home decor, appliances, apparel, and seasonal items in 244 clubs and provides gasoline to 177 BJ’s Gas station locations in 20 states across the U.S. BJ’s brought in over $19 billion in revenue in the most recent fiscal year ending on Feb. 3.
