Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority hires new executive director

Meagen Donoghue has joined the Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority from the town of Sudbury, where she was the director of planning and community development.
The Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority, an agency working to support and attract companies to the city, has a new executive director.
The authority has hired Meagen Donoghue to take the place of Dan Curley, who died unexpectedly in July.
Donoghue was most recently the director of planning and community development in Sudbury. She's held economic development and planning roles in Worcester, Webster and Chicopee.
In Sudbury, Donoghue was instrumental in redeveloping a former Raytheon plant into Meadow Walk, a mixed-use development on Route 20 featuring a Whole Foods Market and other retailers, 250 units of luxury apartments and a senior living center. She was involved with the creation of town-wide master plans in Sudbury.
At the Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority, Donoghue will oversee the development of an updated urban renewal plan, and advocacy and collaboration efforts. The current urban renewal plan will expire in 2020. Donoghue said she's looking to help revitalize Main Street and market authority-owned properties, including a buildable site on Airport Road.
Donoghue, who teaches part time in the urban studies and history departments at Worcester State University, has a master's degree in regional planning from UMass Amherst, a master's in higher education from Syracuse University, and a bachelor's in history from Elmira College in New York.
