Tom Skwierawski, the City of Fitchburg’s executive director of community development and planning, is moving on to a new job in Revere.
The Revere City Council on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve Tom Skwierawski for the position of chief of planning and community development.
Skwierawski has held his position in Fitchburg for more than five years, during that time he worked with city officials, Fitchburg State University, and other local organizations to revitalize the city’s struggling downtown. He will leave his position on Oct. 11.
Skwierawski told WBJ it was a difficult decision, but that he wanted to work in a community closer to his Melrose home.
Fitchburg is undergoing a search for Skwierawski’s replacement.
