The city of Gardner will receive a $50,000 federal grant Tuesday for a brownfields redevelopment project.
Trevor Beauregard, the city's economic development coordinator, said in a statement that the grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration will be combined with $35,000 from MassDevelopment and $15,000 from the Gardner Redevelopment Authority to begin redeveloping the Mill Street Corridor.
The area is one of the sites being targeted by Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray's Brownfields Support Team Initiative, which was launched in 2008. The lieutenant governor is scheduled to appear at the announcement Tuesday at 2 p.m. along with other local, state and federal offiicials.
The Mill Street area in South Gardner is a former industrial section that the city has targeted for cleanup and improvements.
