Less than a year after its own attempt at sports-over-your-cell-phone collapsed, Bristol-based broadcaster ESPN has teamed with Verizon Wireless to offer sports news, stats, scores and more free to cell subscribers. The new service, called ESPN MVP, is available through Verizon Wireless’ V CAST service, which costs $15 a month. Some special features, such as subscriptions to ESPN’s alerts, will have additional costs. ESPN is owned by the Walt Disney Co.
