A local electrical contractor has reached substantial completion of a lighting project at toll plazas along a large stretch of the Mass Pike through Central Massachusetts.
Wilmington-based Dagle Electrical Corp., a IBEW Local 96 signatory contractor, announced the milestone Tuesday. The project comes as the state decided to remove the toll plazas and introduced an electronic tolling system.
The nearly completed work stretches from Exit 13 at the Natick/Framingham line to Exit 9 in Sturbridge.
The project included wiring and installation of 145 new LED light poles, lighting controllers for reconfigured ramps in Central Massachusetts and 20 new LED poles at the Park & Ride facility at Exit 11 in Millbury.
The project first included de-energizing all existing toll plazas and light and, providing temporary lighting feeds to allow for safe demolition of toll plazas.
The company worked in tandem with National Grid and Eversource for the installation of upgraded infrastructure, and Dagle Electrical provided cutover work.
