Framingham State University has hired a new dean of students, a former orientation director at the university earlier in her career.
Meg Nowak will start Jan. 16.
Nowak was vice president of student affairs at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., where she lead co-curricular programs and activities encouraging student development and success. She oversaw campus health services, intercultural affairs, student housing, and student activities and conduct at Hartwick.
Nowak was Framingham State's director of orientation and First Year Programs from 1997 to 2000. She has worked at Ithaca College, where she was the assistant dean for student and academic services in the business school.
The dean of students at Framingham State is responsible for overseeing residential life, the health and counseling centers, the Student Involvement and Leadership Development program, career services and employer relations, veterans services, and orientation and first-year programs.
“The dean of students during the time I previously worked at Framingham State became a lifelong mentor of mine,” Nowak says. “Now I have the opportunity to take on that mentorship role for other staff on campus, which is something I’m really looking forward to.”
