An engineering firm long based in Watertown will move into a new 79,000 square-foot office in Marlborough before the end of the year.
Doble Engineering has sold its Watertown offices and chose a Marlborough site that allows it to move employees into one office, according to the real estate firm Newmark Knight Frank, which completed the firm's new lease and announced the impending move.
Doble will move into 123 Felton St., a single-story brick office building just off Route 20 west of the I-495 interchange. The building will be renovated and expanded by around 7,000 square feet, with plans for the company to move in during the fourth quarter of the year.
The company chose the building because of the easy access of its location and flexibility for lab, research and development and other uses, Newmark Knight Frank said.
Doble, which was founded in 1920, works in power grid diagnostics solutions in 110 countries, with customers that include Manta Test Systems, Morgan Schaffer, Vanguard Instruments, and Xtensible Solutions. Doble is part of the Utility Solutions Group of ESCO Technologies Inc., a publicly traded company based in St. Louis.
Doble sold its Watertown building, which is located off a busy stretch of Arsenal Street that's seen a range of new, denser development. Westbrook Partners, a Florida real estate investment firm, bought the nearly 5-acre last fall for $17.5 million.
