Two of the Massachusetts' most well-known cannabis operators will begin one of the first collaborations of Massachusetts marijuana firms.
Leicester-based Cultivate and Milford’s Sira Naturals are hosting the Dab Collab, an event on Saturday featuring marijuana extract from each company.
The event will be held at Cultivate's dispensary in Leicester from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Extraction teams from each company will choose some of their favorite strains to put on display and for sale. Customers and patients will be educated about the product and the process.
According to Cultivate President Sam Barber, this is the first such collaboration in the state’s young cannabis industry.
“Everyone talks about West Coast, but on the East Coast, there are a lot of very innovative people out here in terms of creating a high quality product,” Barber said.
Barber likened the extraction craft to fine wine or top-shelf whiskey.
“It’s the same type of deal with this type of extract,” he said. “People are looking for the flavor and texture.”
Sira Naturals CEO Michael Dundas called the event an educational experience. The company has been a wholesale supplier of some products to Cultivate, so the partnership came naturally.
“In the spirit of collaboration, this hopefully is the first of many projects were involved in with other operators,” Dundas said.
