Cornerstone Bank’s chief information officer to retire

Veteran Cornerstone Bank employee Thomas Dufresne will retire from his position as executive vice president, chief information officer following a 27-year career with the Worcester institution.

Throughout his tenure with Cornerstone, Dufresne has played a crucial role in promoting the bank’s technical advancements, according to a Tuesday press release. He spearheaded initiatives including implementing and managing a voice-over-internet protocol, a system using the internet for voice calls as opposed to using analog phone lines. He authored the bank’s IT policies, performed internal systems auditing, and created IT instructional programs.

Cornerstone is not looking for a new chief information officer at this time.

“Tom has led the way to ensuring our customers have easy access for all their banking needs, using cutting-edge technology in a way that’s always user-friendly,” Todd Tallman, CEO of Cornerstone Bank, said in the release. “We appreciate his many years of dedication and hard work and wish him the very best as he embarks on the next chapter of his life.”

With $1.2 billion in local deposits and $1.3 billion in total deposits, Cornerstone Bank is the 10th largest bank in Central Massachusetts when ranked by local deposits as of June 30, 2023, according to data gathered by the WBJ Research Department. The bank has 10 local branches and accumulated $4.1 million in net income and $1.6 billion in total assets in fiscal 2023.
