Natick machine-vision firm Cognex partnered up with OSARO, a California robotics company specializing in AI-driven fulfillment robots, to improve the robots’ efficiency in reading barcodes.
Cognex’s barcode reader was used in conjunction with OSARO equipment to help bag eyeglasses for Zenni Optical in California. Zenni’s signature packaging made it difficult for machines to accurately read a barcode.
With Cognex’s technology, the process became 80% more efficient, bagging 410 eyeglasses an hour, according to a Friday press release from OSARO.
“At OSARO, we’re always looking for the best technologies and vendors to incorporate into our strategic partnership ecosystem. Cognex is now part of that partnership strategy to deploy the best possible solutions to our customers,” OSARO Vice President of Operations Gemma Ross said in the press release. “We are excited to be working with Cognex and to draw on their experts with deep domain experience in the successful deployment of barcode readers in challenging e-commerce and logistics applications.”
Cognex is a machine-vision company providing technology for manufacturing and logistics automation applications. The firm acquired German lighting company SAC Sirius Advanced Cybernetics GmbH in December, gaining technology to help move into the electric vehicle industry.
Cognex, a publicly-traded company on the NASDAQ, reported more than $1 billion in revenue in 2022.
