Cleantech VC Investment Up In 2010
Worldwide venture investment in clean technology, including solar, energy conservation and green transportation, hit $7.8 billion in 2010, up 28 percent from 2009, according to industry research organization the Cleantech Group.
The investment level was the second-highest on record, after 2008's high of $8.8 billion. The total number of deals, 715, was the highest ever.
North America represented 68 percent of the total invested, followed by Europe and Israel at 21 percent and Asia at 10 percent.
Massachusetts companies received a total of $398 million in investments, the second-highest total for a U.S. state after California.
