CCC requests meeting with Worcester for Union Station lease

Union Station could soon be the headquarters for the Cannabis Control Commission.
The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission is requesting a meeting with Worcester city officials to review a proposal to move its headquarters from Boston to Union Station.
The agency set up to oversee the state’s recreational marijuana industry has asked for a meeting with the Worcester Redevelopment Authority’s representatives, city spokesman Mike Vigneux told WBJ.
The state Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance -- the state’s facility management body -- is still reviewing proposals.
Worcester Chief Development Officer Michael Traynor in late August said the CCC has about 10 other proposals to consider, but added state officials did a walkthrough of Union Station earlier in the month.
The city in April sent a response to the cannabis regulatory authority’s request for proposals for at least 13,000 square feet of office space in Worcester. There is at least 15,000 square feet of space in the public transportation terminal for the agency.
The CCC is seeking a 10-year lease for office space for about 50 employees. A decision is expected this fall.
