Devens-based wind energy company AMSC announced that Inox Wind Ltd., part of India's Inox Group of Cos., placed an order for 50 of AMSC's electrical control systems (ECS) for Inox's 2 megawatt wind turbines.
AMSC expects to ship all of these systems this year. This is the fourth volume order that AMSC has received from Inox in the past two years.
AMSC's ECS' are a suite of power electronics systems that include the wind turbine power converter cabinet, internal power supply and various controls. They control power flows, regulate voltage, monitor system performance of wind turbines.
This order comes after AMSC fell on hard times last year when it lost 70 percent of its revenue from Chinese company Sinovel Wind Group after the it refused to pay for products ordered. Last month, AMSC asked China's highest court to overturn a lower court's dismissal of the company's suit against Sinovel and Dalian Guotong Electric Co.
