Framingham firm Ameresco, which specializes in clean and renewable energy, has completed the installation of a solar field which will power a utility-structure manufacturing plant in Bristol, Indiana.

The project was in partnership with Valmont Industries, an agricultural infrastructure company based in Omaha, Nebraska, according to a Thursday press release. Valmont works to reduce concrete usage in infrastructure projects, and intends to use this work with Ameresco as a model for future sites.

The solar installation is designed to offset 100% of the Bristol plant’s energy usage. The completed solar powered system will produce about 980,000 kWh of electricity per year, and will offset an estimated 766 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in its first year. The useful life of the project is projected at 25 years, during which it should offset over 18,000 tons of emissions, according to the press release.

Ameresco has recently announced a series of battery projects to bolster power grids in Ontario, California, and Colorado.
