Ameresco, a Framingham-based company specializing in energy resiliency projects, has signed a $21-million contract with a Nevada city to convert 30,000 of its street lights to energy-efficient LED technology.
Ameresco announced the partnership with the City of Henderson in a press release issued on Monday. The project will involve replacing several hundred street light poles in the city of 331,415 people.
"We’re honored to continue our decade-long partnership with the City of Henderson and contribute to the community's advancement," Lou Maltezos, executive vice president at Ameresco, said in the press release. "Sustainable urban development should not only prioritize progress but also enrich the quality of life for residents and our team is thrilled to be helping them achieve both."
Ameresco previously worked with the City of Henderson on a $2.85-million project to convert the municipalities’ traffic signals to LED technology, according to a company press release issued in 2007.
This Nevada project joins a number of other project announcements from Ameresco since 2023; the company announced a clean energy project in Hawaii in December and a venture to build a backup power plant at a California military base in November, among others.
