Ameresco is working on completing another project involving a large contract, as the Framingham-based energy resiliency company has initiated construction of a $33-million project on behalf of the National Archives and Records Administration.
The project, announced in a Monday press release from Ameresco, will see the company modernize infrastructure to reduce emissions at two NARA sites in College Park, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
Ameresco will implement building automation systems at the two sites to reduce annual fossil fuel consumption by 72%, decrease utility water use by 48%, and reduce electricity use by 28%. A grant by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Assisting Federal Facilities with Energy Conservation Technologies Program will allow Ameresco to add solar rooftop installations and electrical vehicle charging stations to the sites.
"Working closely with NARA, Ameresco developed this project in support of the agency’s modernization efforts with zero-dollar capital outlay and NARA’s Strategic Plan of increased public access to federal records through digitization and on-line delivery" Nicole Bulgarino, executive vice president and general manager at Ameresco, said in the press release.
NARA and Ameresco have worked together on a number of projects in the last two decades. During previous projects, Ameresco has helped NARA deploy high-efficiency equipment in the administration’s efforts to be closer to net-zero emissions.
This announcement is the latest in a series of contract announcements from Ameresco. Earlier in May, the company announced a $250 million energy storage project in the United Kingdom and a $21-million contract to revamp a Nevada city’s streetlights.
