AIM: Mass. Raises Lower Than Average

Even though the Massachusetts economy is apparently outperforming the nation's, employers here are planning on lower-than-average raises, according to the Associated Industries of Massachusetts' annual Human Resource Practices Report.

The report found that Massachusetts employers predict salary budgets increases of between 2.53 and 2.8 percent, while the national figure is between 2.92 and 3.01 percent.

In general, though, employers are bullish on the state. More than two thirds of the 368 participants surveyed said business conditions are good to excellent. Just five percent said conditions are poor.

The AIM survey skews to manufacturing, with 47 percent of survey participants coming from that industry.
