Title: Marketing Manager, St. Mary’s Credit Union
Company location: Marlborough
Residence: Shrewsbury
Favorite movie: “Good Will Hunting.” Never judge a book by its cover, and never underestimate the brilliance of those around you.
Favorite book: “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith. This novel is filled with compassion, cruelty, laughter and raw honesty that connects with the core of the human experience. Like the tree, anyone can blossom from a crack in the pavements, even in the most inhospitable environment.
Career highlights: I received a bachelor of science degree in human factors engineering from the top aviation school in the world, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and an MBA from Nichols College. Before graduating from Embry-Riddle, I was part of a NASA research team in Florida and Houston. Outside of educational highlights, I’m proud to say that St. Mary’s Credit Union’s Random Acts of Kindness program is my pet project and a fulfilling highlight in my career. Through it, I am able to go out into the community and make people smile without any agenda other than being kind. The Acts of Kindness levels the playing field and encourages us all to pay positivity forward.
Community involvement: I have thoroughly enjoyed the last five years as an executive committee member of Rachel’s Table Inc. in Worcester, a non-profit organization that rescues excess food from restaurants, grocers and other food institutions and safely delivers it to Worcester charities that serve the hungry. Rachel’s Table’s Children’s Milk Fund is also the only milk donation resource in the city. More than 20 percent of the families in Worcester live below the poverty level and require food assistance; I am honored to play a small role in providing them with nourishing food that would otherwise go to waste.
Biggest success: Not losing my lunch during weightlessness training in a reduced-gravity aircraft.
Biggest challenge: Keeping my Type-A personality in check and remembering not to sweat the small stuff.
Mentors: When I was young, my mom always pushed me to strive for excellence and prove that I can do and be anything that I wanted. I owe my drive and ambition to her encouragement.
Hidden talents: I have been a competitive runner since the age of 10 and have competed in a wide range of races, from the 100-yard dash to marathons.
