2011 40 Under Forty: Susan McAtee Posterro

FIRM ADMINISTRATOR, Fuller, Rosenberg, Palmer & Beliveau LLP

Company location: Worcester

Residence: North Grafton

Favorite movie: I am a sucker for any chick flick.

Age: 39

Career highlights: I have been privileged to work for three distinguished law firms in my career.  Each firm has provided me with projects, challenges and experiences that have helped me hone my professional skills. In addition, the exceptional people I have come to know and respect have guided me and helped me grow along my path within the legal community.

It has also been amazing to work alongside my mom, building our Binkeez Baby Blanket business from a grassroots level, watch it grow and then bloom for all the right reasons.

Community involvement: I work with the Tara Bean Foundation to assist in their mission to secure funds for medical research and treatment advancements. Tara continues to inspire many to come together to help find better treatments and a cure for brain tumors.

It is the hope of the Tara Bean Foundation that one day soon, other children will no longer suffer from what Tara so bravely, and so suddenly, faced. Tara would have wanted it that way.  I have also worked with the March of Dimes/UMass NICU with our Binkeez for Comfort to help bring comfort to babies and their parents. I am also the family liaison for Tiny Sparrow Foundation of Dallas, which helps support families of children with life-threatening diseases through the use of photography.

Biggest success: My biggest success was bringing to life my triathlon team’s motto of “You Can Do Anything in the Right Pair of Shoes” by raising almost $20,000 for the Tara Bean Foundation. Also, knowing that in 2011, my mom and I will have given 750 Binkeez blankets to each baby in the UMass NICU.

Biggest challenge: My biggest challenge came in 2010, when I committed to a year’s worth of monthly events that consisted of triathlons, marathons and extreme races. Committing to why we were doing it was the easy part.

Mentors: Kevin: Instilling in me to always stay centered, stay focused, be patient, be consistent, and don’t let others rock me. Diane Power: To always stay true to whom I was meant to become, personally and professionally. JR and Tania Thomas: Teaching me to always get back at it, no matter what. My dad: Instilling in me to never be afraid of being a strong female. My mom: To always act with a pure and honest heart.

Hidden talent: I have a knack for picking out sassy and fierce high heels.
