Director, Inforce Case Management, Unum
Company location: Worcester
Residence: Worcester
Age: 29
Career highlights: I graduated from Worcester State University with a double major in business administration and management and computer science. I accepted a job offer from Unum as an entry-level claims examiner. In the meantime, I began pursuing and completed my MBA at Nichols College. Throughout my career at Unum, I quickly moved through the ranks as a claims examiner. I became a director in Unum’s benefits organization. Shortly after, I became fully trained in the Lean Six Sigma methodology. I traveled to each of Unum’s four campuses streamlining many cross-functional processes. I am now serving as director of Inforce Case Management in Unum’s underwriting and products department.
Community involvement: I previously coached field hockey for two local high schools. I also served as a director on the alumni advisory board for Worcester State University. Currently I am serving on the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity. I am also leading a partnership between Unum and Girls Inc. We created a leadership program called GALS (Girls About Leadership & Service) which is a development program that enhances educational opportunities for young women to help them achieve high results. We help arm girls with the skills they need to succeed.
Biggest success: Leading corporate projects that resulted in significant expense reductions and savings through several organizational improvements, benefiting the company and better serving our customers.
Mentors: My mentor is my father. He taught me many important life lessons by being an example. He is a natural motivator. He keeps his word and stands by his promises. He taught me to be practical and appreciate what I have — everything in moderation.
Hidden talent: I absolutely love ballroom dancing. My dream is to become an instructor one day — hopefully soon!
