Worcester’s World Energy Solutions Inc. said it is expanding its energy exchange services into Brazil after signing a two-year deal to sell carbon credits there.
The company signed the agreement with Bolsa de Titulos e Ativos Ambientais do Brasil (BTAAB), a company that also sells environmental credits, and expects the arrangement to result in the sale of millions of carbon credits on the World Green Exchange.
The credits will be generated from the preservation and restoration of Brazilian forests.
Through the new agreement, BTAAB plans to sell about 65 million carbon credits related to projects currently in development.
World Energy manages online exchanges for energy and energy commodities.
