Gov. Deval Patrick has nominated Margaret R. Guzman, a long-time Worcester public defender, to the Dudley District Court.
Guzman served as a public defender with the Committee for Public Council Services in Worcester for 13 years before starting her own private practice in the city in 2005. A Worcester resident, she has also served as the supervising attorney for the Worcester County Bar Advocate Program and as a board member and president of Dismas House in the city.
Her appointment would fill a vacancy in the Dudley court created by the retirement of Paul V. Mullaney.
Patrick also nominated Leilah A. Keamy, an associate justice of the Middlesex Probate and Family Court, to the Worcester Probate and Family Court. Before joining the Middlesex court, Keamy worked in family law litigation in Central and Eastern Massachusetts for 20 years with White, Inker Aronson PC of Boston. She lives in Northborough.
She would fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Joseph L. Hart Jr.
