The state Department of Energy Resources is looking for proposals for clean power and energy efficient projects that could qualify for federal stimulus funding.
The U.S. Department of Energy will distribute about $156 million nationwide to fund up to 72 energy projects. DOER will file a comprehensive application on behalf of public and private parties in Massachusetts.
Interested communities, companies, state agencies and institutions must apply to a new DOER Program Opportunity Notice by June 30 to qualify. Eligible projects must be "shovel ready" within 120 days of receiving funding. They could include combined heat and power generation systems; "district energy systems" that pump steam, hot water or chilled water to multiple buildings in an area; projects that reuse energy from exhaust heat, waste gas or other sources or industrial equipment that improves efficiency by at least 25 percent.
Funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will pay for up to 50 percent of selected projects.
