Worcester City Manager Edward Augustus has named Julie Lynch as the city’s chief of public facilities, according to a Tuesday announcement.
Lynch most recently served as capital program manager for the Department of Public Works’ municipal facilities improvement plan in the City of Cambridge, beginning in 2016. Additionally, she spent nine years working in architectural services for Worcester’s Department of Public Works & Parks from 2006 to 2015, among other positions in the state.
Lynch will head the new Department of Public Facilities, one of two departments replacing the Energy and Asset Management Division. Lynch's department will focus on the development of the expertise and efficiencies to manage public properties across the city.
“I am happy to welcome Julie back to the City family,” Augustus said in a statement. “Our public buildings will benefit from the oversight of this department, and Julie’s experience will be instrumental in leading us forward.”
On Tuesday, the city also announced it would promote Nicole Valentine and Eric Batista to assistant city managers, following the retirement of Assistant City Manager Kathleen Johnson.
