Cogmedix, Inc., a medical contract manufacturer based in West Boylston, plans to build a new 101,400-square-foot manufacturing facility, making use of a five-year tax financing agreement with the town totaling approximately $328,930, according to the Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council.
The EACC announced on Thursday it had approved eight projects for participation in its economic development incentive program, among them being the Cogmedix proposal.
Chris Coghlin, president and CEO of Cogmedix's parent company Coghlin Cos., said on Wednesday construction on the new facility is slated to begin in 60 days, with the expectation for completion in the next 12-15 months.
According to the EACC, Cogmedix plans to create 200 new jobs while retaining 160 already existing jobs, as well as make an investment of $8.7 million.
“Cogmedix is a rapidly growing business and currently has open hiring requisitions for about 30 new associates,” Coghlin said in a statement. “We expect this hiring trend to continue over the next several years as our client roster continues to rapidly grow and expand.”
Cogmedix was previously based in Worcester, but announced in 2018 it would move to West Boylston.
The company had 210 employees as of March, according to the WBJ Research Department, making Cogmedix the 44th largest manufacturer in Central Massachusetts, as ranked by number of employees.
