Worcester led the way in a surge of home sales across the state that saw the city surpass all other cities with 34.5 percent year-over-year growth, according to a report from The Warren Group.
September home sales grew by 25.3 percent across the state when compared to Sept. 2014. This is the strongest September since 2005, according to the group, with 5,430 single-family homes sold in September in Massachusetts, compared with 4,335 in September 2014. The strong September sales continue the momentum of the year, with 2015’s 40,461 single-family sales representing 10.1 percent growth over the 36,739 sales through September 2014.
Condo sales were also up across the state in September, with a 19.6-percent increase. Prices for condos remained essentially flat, according to the group.
The median sale price for single-family homes sold in September was $330,000, a 3.1-percent increase from the September 2014 median of $320,000. Year to date, the median sale price in Massachusetts is $342,000, a 2.1-percent growth over last year’s median through nine months, which was $335,000.
