Worcester Electronics Manufacturer Sold

Telecast Fiber Systems, a Worcester-based manufacture of laser-based electronics systems has been acquired by Belden Inc.

Belden is based in Indiana and makes wire and cable products for a variety of industries, including broadcasting. Telecast also has a strong presence in the broadcast industry and other video applications. The company's equipment helped explorer Bob Ballard find the Titanic in 1986.

The acquisition closed Dec. 18. Telecast will retain its name and become "a Belden brand." Telecast's founders, Richard Cerny and Eugene Baker will remain with the company, they said in a statement.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
