Construction of a 130,000-square-foot distribution center for Goya Foods broke ground in Webster, according to a Wednesday announcement from Boylston construction contractor RP Masiello, Inc., which is performing the work.
The new facility, which will cost $12 million to construct, is slated to open in 2022, according to RP Masiello.
Goya received approval from the Webster Planning Board for the project in August. The company’s current facility in Webster of 205,000 square feet will become 335,000 square feet.
Goya Foods is North America’s largest distributor of Latino cuisine and the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the U.S., according to the release.
