Erik Wexler, who took over as CEO of Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester last year, has been promoted to president of Vanguard Health Systems' New England operations, Vanguard announced.
Wexler will remain in his role at Saint Vincent, but have expanded responsibilities. He is replacing Joseph Mullany, who left the position to oversee Vanguard's recently acquired Detroit Medical Center.
Saint Vincent is one of two hospitals Vanguard operates in New England. The other is MetroWest Medical Center, which comprises two medical facilities in Framingham and Natick.
The company's Massachusetts facilities are profitable overall, according to recent financial filings.
Vanguard, a for-profit provider, operates 28 hospitals in the United States, including Arizona, Texas, Illinois and Michigan.
