Taste of Shrewsbury Street will return to Worcester in August this year, as yet another indication that life in and around Worcester is reverting to relatively normalcy in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The tentative date for this year’s festival, pending approval from the city, was set for Aug. 24 during a meeting on Tuesday of the Shrewsbury Street Area Merchant Association, which puts on the event. The event will run from 5-10 p.m., with more details to follow.
The festival aims to highlight an area of the city known for its wide variety of restaurants, sometimes referred to as Worcester’s Restaurant Row. Event goers can buy a single ticket to sample foods at a variety of eateries up and down the street.
As with virtually any other public gathering, Taste of Shrewsbury Street did not take place last year, in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Notably, 2020 followed a year of expansion for the much-hyped event. The year prior, Taste of Shrewsbury Street expanded to two festivals -- one in June and one in October -- for the first time.
