A Worcester State University-hosted vaccine clinic run by Saint Vincent Hospital is closing June 10, after administering over 83,000 coronavirus vaccines, Saint Vincent announced on Thursday.
The vaccines were administered over a four-month period. Commonwealth Medicine, a division of UMass Medical School in Worcester, provided logistical support, additional staffing and a large volunteer pool for the collaborative vaccine outpost.
Vaccinations are slated to continue through next week on Monday and Thursday. Those who receive first doses will need to receive second doses elsewhere.
“This collaboration to deliver so many vaccines in such a short period of time in Central Massachusetts has been critical to rapidly reducing the spread of COVID-19 and helping to enable the current stage of reopening,” said Carolyn Jackson, CEO of Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, in a statement. “We are delighted to have worked with such terrific partners to bring this important service to our community.”
Volunteers contributed more than 25,000 hours of time to make the clinics possible.
