TOO EARLY TO START SCHOOL?
Is starting the school year before Labor Day bad policy, and bad for business? A member of our LinkedIn group broached that topic in early September. Here are responses on both sides of the issue:
“February and April breaks give families an opportunity to travel at different times of the year with school-age children without penalizing the students for time off from school.”
LinkedIn group member Lorraine “Lori” Jones
“As a working parent, I hate February and April breaks. There is little academic progress made before and after breaks and at the end of the year.”
LinkedIn group member Jennifer DeFronzo
MORE MAGNETS Our August print edition of MetroWest495 Biz featured a story on Framingham's potential in attracting technology companies. (Framingham: Tech magnet?). One reader believes action speaks louder:
“Don't forget about Worcester, which is attractive too. Compared to Marlborough, Framingham is in a coma. Potential is merely that until someone makes something happen of it.”
Online reader Mark Vincent, of Worcester
