Spectrum Health Systems, Inc., a Worcester addiction treatment nonprofit with locations throughout Massachusetts, announced on Wednesday it had received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International.

Spectrum Health received CARF accreditation for treating inmates with substance use disorders within prison and probation settings throughout the state of Georgia, according to the press release.

Headquartered in Arizona, CARF International is an internationally recognized, nonprofit accreditation provider that certifies the quality of health and human service providers for industries such as rehabilitation for a disability, addiction treatment, home and community services, and retirement living.

The accreditation process included surveyors’ assessment of providers and private interviews with current clients, former clients, and  other stakeholders. Additionally, surveyors observed service practices, visited provider locations, and performed detailed document reviews, per the release.

This marks Spectrum Health Systems’ seventh consecutive CARF accreditation.
