SolarCity Adds Jobs, Marlborough Facility

California-based clean energy services company SolarCity celebrated an expansion in Marlborough Tuesday. SolarCity said since moving into Massachusetts less than a year ago, it's tripled its state workforce, adding 33 employees, and expects to add another 25.
The Marlborough expansion more than doubles the company's warehouse space it had in Billerica and Raynham.
SolarCity attributes its growth in the state to the Patrick Administration's investments in the clean energy.
Gov. Deval Patrick toured the facility Tuesday and said, "The growth of private companies like SolarCity is a sign that our investment strategy in the clean
energy industry is working."
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center's report on the industry showed a 6.7-percent growth in clean energy jobs between July 2010 and July 2011, with companies projecting continued growth into this summer.
"Massachusetts has invested in the clean energy economy – and that investment is paying off with jobs and lower energy costs," said Ed Steins, Massachusetts regional director for SolarCity, which has operations in 14 states.
