Reaching The Top
Some might say that honoring women leaders in the business world is old-fashioned. But we see this special section profiling six outstanding female business leaders as a celebration of how far women have come and a nod to future generations of women who today are sitting behind desks studying to be tomorrow’s executives.
Our six honorees for this Women in Business issue were selected out of a competitive group of more than 75 nominations. It was no easy task narrowing the field to the six you’ll read about on the following pages. We were helped by our panel of judges: Elaine Osgood, president and CEO of Atlas Travel International of Milford and a former WBJ Business Leader of the Year; Allison R. Lane, attorney with Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple of Worcester and a 2005 WBJ 40 Under Forty honoree; and Liana P. Moore, an attorney with Bowdtich and Dewey of Worcester and a 2009 40 Under Forty honoree.
The group of six women that we selected represent a broad range of industries —from nonprofits to logistics to technology — and have steadily climbed the ranks within their chosen fields. Their stories, told on the following pages in their own words, will no doubt impress and inspire.
