Marlborough defense contractor Ratheon has received a $600 million contract from an undisclosed country of the 13-nation alliance that owns the Patriot Integrated Air & Missile Defense System.

Raytheon received the money from the mystery country to upgrade its current system to the most up-to-date configuration.

The new deal, which was awarded last Wednesday, will enable the country to use the Patriot to shoot down ballistic missiles.

The deal was announced 120 days after Poland requested the defense system from the U.S. government, another undisclosed country awarded Raytheon a separate $225-million contract, and the Netherlands awarded Raytheon a contract with an undisclosed amount to upgrade its Patriot systems.
