PLC Systems, the Milford-based medical device company, has signed an agreement that will expand sales of its RenalGuard medical device into the European Union's two largest economies, France and Germany.
ACIST Medical Systems will have exclusive rights to distribute PLC's device in the European countries. The RenalGaurd device has already received the CE mark of approval, which is similar to U.S. Food & Drug Administration compliance.
RenalGuard aims to prevent potentially fatal injury to the kidneys of patients who undergo certain types of imaging procedures.
RenalGaurd is already sold on the continent in Italy, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Luxembourg, Monaco and Switzerland.
The company is preparing a trial to gain approval to sell the product in the United States.
