The CU 4 Reality Financial Education Fair, which was sponsored by Fitchburg Federal Credit Union, GFA Federal Credit Union of Gardner, IC Federal Credit Union of Fitchburg and Workers' Credit Union of Fitchburg, exposed the students to the kind of financial decisions they'll make later in their lives and allowed them to apply their in-class studies in a real world setting. Photo/Courtesy The Ninety-Nine Restaurants, based in Woburn, recently honored the Boys and Girls Club of North Central Massachusetts' “Youth of the Year,” Valerie Francoise of Leominster, with a gift card package and dinner for her family and guests. The restaurant corporation will also award one $5,000 scholarship to a member of the Boys and Girls Club of North Central Massachusetts who is accepted to an accredited college program and will pursue a hospitality degree. Douglas School in Acton recently got an on-site tour of a Workers' Credit Union branch through a five-week program at the school called “Money Makes Cents.” The program included 45-minute lessons on topics like the history of money, its circulation, how to earn and spend it, and the significance of savings. The books, which were collected from members and employees at all six LCU branches, were donated to the Montachusett Opportunity Council in Fitchburg and the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless in Lynn.
