Photo/Courtesy As part of the American Cancer Society's annual “Daffodil Days” campaign, all eight UniBank branches recently handed out daffodils to customers over the course of a week. Bank employees purchased the flowers to raise awareness for the cause and also made personal donations, which allowed the American Cancer Society to distribute bouquets of daffodils to cancer patients. Unibank has participated in “Daffodil Days” for more than 11 years and has raised $13,700 for the charity. Photo/Courtesy Commerce Bank of Worcester recently donated $5,000 to the NeighborWorks HomeOwnership Center of Worcester, which offers classes, workshops, one-on-one counseling, financial literacy training and down payment assistance to first-time homebuyers. The bank's donation will support these programs as well as the center's programs that help homeowners protect and keep their homes. Photo/Courtesy The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden of Harvard, with funding from The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts in Worcester, recently dedicated a new work of art at HealthAlliance Hospital's Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center in Leominster. The piece of art, which incorporates the words of 23 staff members, was a product of the Healing Garden Collaborative, a partnership between the cancer center and the Harvard-based nonprofit.
