Photo/Courtesy The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest recently received a $25,000 grant from the Staples Foundation for Learning Inc., a private foundation that has contributed more than $14 million to national and local charities, specifically those committed to helping disadvantaged youth. The donation will help support “Technology for All,” an after-school program that teaches at-risk youth basic computer and technology skills. Photo/Courtesy Larry Morrison of Sturbridge, a trustee of Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, recently donated 36 teddy bears to the hospital's pediatrics unit. The bears were supplied by the Theodore Roosevelt Association, an organization that distributes teddy bears to children in hospitals throughout the country. Accepting the bears from Morrison was Ann Beaudry, the nurse manager of maternal and children's services at Harrington Hospital.
Photo/Courtesy A few days before Christmas, Digital Federal Credit Union of Marlborough gave Jean McMurray, the executive director of the Worcester County Food Bank, an early Christmas gift. She was allowed to read “The Night Before Christmas” at the Boston Pops annual holiday concert at the DCU Center. Prior to the performance, the Worcester County Food Bank was presented with DCU's annual $5,000 donation for its year-long commitment to making a difference.
