Claire and Brendan O’Connor sold the location of their beloved Worcester restaurant to its new owners, the Maxwell family, for $2.2 million.
The couple announced their retirement and intention to sell the restaurant in June. The sale of the business completed in July, with terms remaining private.
The $2.2-million price is for the property sale and doesn’t necessarily include the sale of the restaurant business. The property sale closed Thursday, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds.
The new owners intend to keep the Irish-American restaurant as is, with Brendan O’Connor remaining on to help with the transition.
The couple has owned the property since 1989 when they bought it for $325,000. They have renovated and expanded the structure over the years as the restaurant became more and more popular.
The property is assessed by the City of Worcester at $1.2 million.
