Foreclosures took a sizable drop between March and April, as the number of pre-foreclosures and pending foreclosures nationwide fell 14.3 percent to just under 100,000, according to Foreclosures.com. The number of properties taken back by lenders – known as REO or bank-owned real estate filings – also fell 14 percent to 40,000. The Northeast region — which includes New England, N.Y., N.J., Penn. Del., Mar. and D.C. – had the fewest, with 10,356 pre-foreclosures, 4,331 auction filings and 2,339 REO filings.
