Building developed as HQ for GE
The 79,123-square-foot former General Electric northeast headquarters building at 1400 Computer Dr. in Westborough has been sold for $13 million.
Morris & Morse also named RBJ the exclusive leasing agent for the building.
The Computer Drive office building was built in 1991 as the northeast headquarters for General Electric, and is near I-495 and I-90. The building includes a gym, and is near several restaurants, hotels and retail stores.
Tenants there now include the CCR Advisory Group, Competitive Edge Services and the Center for Technology Commercialization.
Although the I-495 West office market of which 1400 Computer Dr. is part has experienced severe vacancy rates in recent years, it has rebounded lately, and has seen five consecutive quarters of positive absorption, according to RBJ.
According to RBJ, the I-495 West market contains 16.8 million square feet of office space, and as of June 30, was 17.3 percent vacant.
Morris & Morse also lists properties in Andover, Reading and Providence, R.I., among its holdings. The company lists the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board and the Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Co. among its clients.
