How much, if any, work to outsource is a decision that will involve different factors for every company, according to Staffing.org.
The research organization notes that, in a survey by Doublestar, clients on average gave contract workers a grade of B for effectiveness, a B+ for consumer service and professionalism and a C+ for metrics and reporting. Still, it said, good outsourcing can be more efficient than a bad internal process, and vice versa.
A 2008 survey by Staffing.org shows that a full 31 percent of firms use no outsourcing at all. Another 34 percent outsource 1 to 9 percent of their staffing, 22 percent outsource 10 to 29 percent, and just 10 percent outsource 30 percent or more. Firms are most likely to outsource "specialized roles," with 23 percent doing so. Just 13 percent outsource hourly workers, and 8 percent outsource management.
