A Mexican restaurant at the Worcester Public Market is slated to open its second location in the city on Highland Street.
Taqueria Del Pueblo is planning to take the 57 Highland St. location formerly occupied by Savepoint Tavern, a bar with video games for patrons that closed in October 2020, blaming tight operating restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic.
The site was previously the longtime home of Grille 57.
Taqueria Del Pueblo debuted with a smaller space at the Worcester Public Market, which opened in early 2020, just weeks before the pandemic forced it and many other customer-facing businesses to close at least temporarily. The restaurant said it is also planning some changes to its menu at the public market.
Taqueria Del Pueblo announced the Highland Street plans on April 4 but has not given a planned opening date.
