Last year, the MetroWest economy withstood the economic recession better than the state and country, according to new findings by the MetroWest Economic Research Center at Framingham State College.
The unemployment rate in Metrowest at the end of 2009 sat at 6.4 percent, with the greater Marlborough region's unemployment rate at 7.2 percent. The state had an 8.5 percent unemployment rate at the time while the national unemployment rate was 9.3 percent to end the year.
The region had a 67 percent higher concentration of manufacturing jobs compared to the state and a 46 percent higher concentration of information jobs.
The results of MERC's latest analysis were released as part of the organization's 18th annual conference held Friday morning at FSC.
